There is a lot to do without spending hours in the car. Within 20 minutes drive are given below, but this is by no means all:

  • "Capture" Fatlips Castle near Denholm - get the key from T.B. Oliver's garage in Denholm and climb up to the battlements of this crag-top tower near Minto
  • Teviot Leisure centre and swimming pool, Hawick
  • Wilton Lodge Park, Hawick (Bowling, putting, crazy golf, 6 blaes tennis courts and café, museum)
  • Harestanes Visitor Centre, Ancrum (lots of activities for the younger lot)
  • Jedburgh Jail museum (lock ‘em up! – great for kids)
  • Mary Queen of Scots House, Jedburgh (museum)

Activities and Events

Denholm Village Fair Saturday 20th May 2017: Stalls, music, dancers, Car Boot Sale and much more on the village Green. Sadly the will be no down hill Bogie race this year

Saturday 3rd June 17 HAWICK COMMON RIDING - DENHOLM RIDE-OUT : The Ride-out to Holden, with it's spectacular cavalcade of approx 200 riders passes Roe Deer Rest and Gledswing Lookout around 4.00 p.m. Follow them down the hill to Denholm to see the village give the traditional welcome to horses and riders. The main Common Riding Celebrations take place in Hawick on Friday 9th June - Saturday 10th June

Annual Steve Hislop Memorial motor cycle Borders ride: Stay over night with us to join this popular ride in memory of the village's famous son - twice British superbike champion and one of the most successful riders in the history of the Isle of Man TT races. Date TBC

April 2nd - May 13th Kings of the 7s Tournament: For all you keen rugby fans out there, the Borders plays host to the annual Kings of the 7s Tournament. Melrose, Galashiels, Hawick, Kelso, Langholm, Berwick, Earlston, Selkirk and Jedburgh all hold their own tournament throughout the spring, a great day out for all the family!
