Camping without a car? Travel to the campsite and exploring the area by public transport, on foot or on bikes offers pleasant options.
Train:
You can hop on a train to Tweedbank (our nearest station), Berwick-upon-Tweed for east coast travel, or Carlisle for those travelling via the west coast. There are connecting buses from each of these stations to our nearest towns of Hawick or Jedburgh, both towns are roughly 6 miles then to the campsite, see section below on the bus options. You can also take your bike on the train to Tweedbank and cycle some of the beautiful B-roads that go through some of the best of the Borders scenery.
Buses:
The X95 brings you to Hawick from Carlisle or Edinburgh - https://www.bordersbuses.co.uk/services/BORD/X95
This bus route can also connect you to Hawick from Galashiels Transport Interchange if you're taking the train. Some of the buses on this route are cycle-friendly with bike racks onboard - https://www.bordersbuses.co.uk/bike-friendly-buses
To get to Jedburgh from Tweedbank or Galashiels train stations use the no.68 bus -
https://www.bordersbuses.co.uk/services/BORD/68
If you would like to get closer to the campsite by bus, the no.20 operates between Hawick and Jedburgh - https://roadhoggs.co.uk/timetables/ . Hop off at Denholm and walk over the hill via The Loaning road and to the campsite or you can request the bus to stop at the end of the Bedrule road junction (no road number) and cycle or walk the small road to the campsite.
